While I attended university back in the seventies. I had a part time job durn the school year making small repairs to student apartments that my boss’s wife and sister in law owned and managed. They had about thirty in the down town core near two university’s and a trade school. Each year in April when the students move out a group of us would clean them up, fix them up and give them a coat of paint. We usually had them done the first week of June for the next year. In July parents would rent them for the summer for their kids 15 to 18 to live in for the summer. Often the kids were there with their boy friend and girl friend expirmenting living together. Once ever couple of weeks we dropped by to check the place out for damage.

Found a lot of left over Mac and Cheese in dirty pots. But never any damage. Always had a parent there when we visited. Most not all used this visit to drop off condoms. Believe it or not it was against the law to sell condoms to minors.

The rest of my summer was spent building homes.

After university I worked for the company making repairs to apartments that you would not believe what caused the problems. More than once I came across gardens built in the living room. Or a two bed room converted to a six bed room and re rented out to desperate students.
