Cuckmatt, I thought you did a very nice job of explaining this scenario and conveying the accompanying feelings. I can relate to your wife’s trepidation when it feels like it has gotten a momentum of its own and that the ‘plan’ is running you instead of vice versa. Spontaneity may be the key, and going out with her feeling free and well loved , yet unpressured, by you just may bear the fruit you ultimately desire. Also, if you’re willing to let her develop a relationship privately and inform you later (something I don’t think I would be comfortable with), she may be more suited for this path than the previous one.
