I’m far from being an expert or a seasoned pro at these things so how much you read into what I say is entirely up to you.  The only angle I can think of for you is the patience one.  Although you and your wife are opening up for an outsider, I would say allow them to become somewhat familiar with themselves before demanding an audience?  Sure, being in the general vacinity is a good thing.

Your wife may need your support at a moments notice if things don’t go according to plans.  It may be just comforting embrace after a poor performance or it could be a ride home if she gets cold feet at the last moment. Being in the same room could have an adverse effect on their performance and just be a poor experience all round.  It’s all about the big picture other wise you may as well be approaching yours and your wife’s activities as kind of single installment of a mmf threesome with the difference being that you take a more passive role and having a reduced participation?
