This is such an important article. We just found this comment section to it. By the way, it would be nice if it would be accessible from the article itself. Anyway, what I wanted to add, that I think it’s crucial that couples exercise flexibility in this. As the article says, some men are not comfortable with performing in front of someone. Or they need time to open up to it. Sometimes it’s the husband who is not ready to witness it yet. Other times it’s just how they can work out the logistics. But as it’s beneficial for the relationship when the husband is involved, so he should be. The extent of it can vary over time based on the circumstances.

In our case he was always involved in the beginning by being present, but as time went by and we opened up to solo dates, it understandably reduced the direct involvement. It’s a balancing act.
